Dear Visitor

Dear Student

Welcome to the Department of Mechanical Engineering!

It has been almost 50 years since our department was established. Our department, which started undergraduate education in the 1976-1977 academic year within Dokuz Eylül University Denizli Faculty of Engineering, joined Pamukkale University established in 1992, and continued its education and training activities until today. With its young, dynamic, and well-equipped teaching staff, it is among the strongest universities in the Aegean region and even in our country. As of September 2024, our department consists of 9 Professors, 5 Associate Professors, 5 Assistant Professors, 2 Lecturers, and 7 Research Assistants. Denizli is a student city with accommodation, housing, and social facilities. Our department is located on the main campus and is close to the city. If you have chosen our department, be sure that you will get a very good education and graduate as a good mechanical engineer. Of course, for this, you need to do more than your part and invest in yourself throughout your education life. What we mean by this is to bring your foreign language to a good level, participate in organized events, attend courses and seminars in your field of interest, learn additional programs, and gain the ability to work as a team by participating in club activities, to study hard, but to study hard!

Our department offers its students an outstanding undergraduate program that includes the basic components of modern engineering education such as exchange programs, internship opportunities, laboratory support, and applied teaching. Our department, which is included in the ERASMUS program, provides its students with the opportunity to study abroad at the universities with which it has an agreement every year.

I would like you to know that I am a graduate of this department and even the first graduate. My diploma number is 001. Our contacts with our graduates continue even after their graduation. As you learn about our graduates working all over our country and the world during your education process, you will better understand what a good department you have come to. We will organize many events to bring you together with our alumni.

As a newly appointed head of the department, I would like to receive more of your opinions and suggestions in the education and training processes. One of the first things we want to do is to include your elected representatives in the advisory board we will form for this. The vice-president lecturers are friends that some of you know well and with whom you can easily establish a dialog. We are also planning to create a WhatsApp group where students can voluntarily become members and directly communicate their important demands to the management.

I would like to emphasize again that you should invest in yourself during your education and spend these four years to the fullest. You should choose courses that will benefit you in the future, not to pass easily.

As a student, please know your responsibilities. If you have any objections, make them before the deadline. You can find many examples of petitions and forms in Turkish (https://www.pau.edu.tr/mf/tr/sayfa/matbu-form-ve-dilekceler), the Undergraduate Education and Training Regulations and Directives (https://www.pau.edu.tr/pau/tr/mevzuat) and the internship directives (https://www.pau.edu.tr/mf/tr/sayfa/staj-islemleri-mf) that you are subject to. In addition to these, you should constantly follow the web pages of the department or the Faculty of Engineering on other subjects you need. In particular, I recommend that you closely follow the announcements on the department and faculty web pages and frequently check your e-mail box defined to you by student affairs.

Of course, there are many things to talk about, but we have enough time for these. I am waiting for your opinions and suggestions to improve the quality of education and training in our Department of mechanical engineering, of which you are a part.

You are very valuable to us.

Together we will build your / our better tomorrows.

Greetings and love / August 28, 2024

Prof. Cemal MERAN
