Double Major Programs

(1) A Double Major Program consists of a second undergraduate program that a student wishes to pursue simultaneously with their primary (first) major program at the University.

(2) (Amended: Official Gazette 20/7/2014-29066) In order to enroll in a second major program, a student must be at least in the third semester and at most in the fifth semester, have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 in their primary undergraduate program at the time of application, and rank within the top 20% of their class in their primary program.
Students whose GPA is at least 3.00 but who are not ranked within the top 20% of their class may also apply to the double major program, provided that their entrance exam score is not lower than the minimum required score for admission to the relevant program in that year.

(3) (Amended: Official Gazette 14/8/2016-29801) Students who have earned the right to graduate from their primary major program but have not completed the second major program may continue their studies in the second major within the maximum period specified in Article 44(c) of Law No. 2547, starting from the academic year in which they enrolled in the second major program.

(4) Students who successfully complete the second major program are awarded a diploma in that program.

(5) Double Major Programs are conducted in accordance with the provisions of this Regulation and decisions of the Senate.

(6) Second major programs consist of at least 90 credits.

(7) (Added: Official Gazette 20/7/2014-29066) The evaluation of courses taken in the second major by students who are dismissed from the Double Major Program is determined by the Senate. Courses successfully completed in the second major but not counted toward the primary major are listed in the transcript and diploma supplement without being included in the GPA.

(8) (Added: Official Gazette 20/7/2014-29066) Quotas are determined by the Senate in accordance with the Regulation on Transfer Between Associate and Undergraduate Programs, Double Major, Minor, and Inter-Institutional Credit Transfer published in the Official Gazette dated 24/4/2010 and numbered 27561.
