Classical Structure

The building marked as the Classical Structure in the city plan is located approximately 140 m northeast of the Main City Gate, approximately 60 m southeast of Bastion 1 and on the southwestern slope of the city. This hilly area was levelled to form a square. Around here, in the north and east are structures that can be defined as the earliest examples of walls in the city. These walls built with natural limestone, rectangular but mostly built with trapezoidal corner blocks, recall examples of the Classical period. That the structure lies just above the entrance to the city and forms a flat area surrounded by other structures suggests a possible agora here; however, excavations need to be carried out to clarify this issue.
