Stoa
The structure called Stoa, i.e. Portico, is located in the northwestern part of the Acropolis and just east of the Kale Masjid. The Main Street coming from the Acropolis North Gate intersects exactly where the Stoa’s entrance is, one branch extends southward and the other eastward, into the city. In other words, the Stoa is located at the busiest crossroads of the city. The building, which is accessed through an arched doorway, is in Doric order. The extant doorway is constructed with neatly cut limestone blocks. Column drums in situ and scattered around are noteworthy. The arched structure is supported by pilaster columns in Doric order. Within the structure are rock-cut shops displaying irregular plans, adjacent to the residential area.
