The conference "A Century on the Trail of Data," organized within the scope of the centennial of the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat), was held at the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences on April 30, 2026. The event opened with an address by PAU Vice Rector Prof. Ersan ÖZ and featured presentations by TurkStat Regional Director Özer COŞKUN and TurkStat Statistical Group Director Dr. Tuncay MORALI on the institution's history, research areas, and career opportunities.

PAU Vice Rector Prof. Ersan ÖZ delivered the opening address, drawing on current events and personal experience to underscore the strategic significance of data in the digital age.
A documentary-style video titled "TurkStat in the Written Press" was also screened during the conference, presenting a selection of media headlines and coverage related to the institution across its century-long history.
TurkStat Regional Director Özer COŞKUN outlined the institution's establishment, operational principles, and career pathways, drawing attention to the diverse fields of specialization available within TurkStat. TurkStat Statistical Group Director Dr. Tuncay MORALI then delivered a comprehensive presentation on demographic structures, the historical development and methodology of census-taking, and global population distributions and projections.
The conference concluded with a Q&A session and a plaque presentation ceremony.
