WORK IN 2012
Excavation work at ancient Tripolis in 2012was initiated as a third phase of work at Tripolis on 18June 2012 under the scientific supervision of Asst. Prof.Dr.Bahadır DUMAN of Pamukkale University.The work was conducted by a team of six archaeologists, two restorers, 25 students of archaeology, art history and anthropology, one crane operator and 30 workmen.
The excavation work covered eight sectors, namely Colonnaded Street, Hierapolis Street, Orpheus Fountain (Nymphaeum), Early Byzantine Church 2, Early Byzantine Church 4, South City Gate 1, South City Gate 2 and Late Roman Agora.

In addition
to the excavation work at Tripolis, the campaign covered topographic surveys
with GPS, geo-radar scanning to determine the existence of architecture buried
as well as restoration and conservation work.
