South City Gate 2 is located in the east-west Colonnaded Street and opens into a north-south portico. The doorway is only 60 cm wide, 1 m deep and 2.25 m tall; its western jamb was uncovered in situ. Although missing, the location of the eastern jamb is clearly attested. Based on the location of the eastern jamb the doorway is understood to be 2.30 m wide. The gate was built 2.45 m north of the south face of the Early Byzantine fortification wall. (Fig. 1) (Fig. 2)
