Industry Professionals Join "Labour Market Practices in Turkey" Course

Updated Date: 20 May 2026

Three guests from the private sector attended the "Labour Market Practices in Turkey" course taught by Prof. Handan KUMAŞ this week. The session brought together Nuri TURGUT, Chairman of the Board of DESİAD and SÜMAŞ Tekstil San. ve Tic. A.Ş., Human Resources Manager Cemile TOPALOĞLU DOĞAN, and Deputy Human Resources Manager Zeynep KAYA. The class included a live job interview simulation conducted with volunteer students.

The "Labour Market Practices in Turkey" course hosted a session this week that brought real-world industry experience directly into the classroom. Invited by Prof. Handan KUMAŞ, Nuri TURGUT opened with a candid account of his own career path and outlined what the business world expects from young graduates. He emphasised that individuals who are genuinely motivated, committed to self-improvement, and capable of turning their strengths and opportunities into results are consistently the ones who achieve their professional goals.

The session's most engaging segment featured TOPALOĞLU DOĞAN and KAYA conducting mock job interviews with three volunteer students. The exercise was built around direct, real-time feedback: each student received concrete observations on what they did well and where they could improve. The hands-on format, which gave all attendees an opportunity to participate actively, was particularly effective in connecting theoretical knowledge with practice.

The participation of KAYA, a graduate of the Faculty's Business Administration programme, added a further dimension to the session. Her presence as an alumna who has built a career in her field served as a concrete and encouraging example of the professional paths available to current students.

After the guests responded to questions from the class, Prof. KUMAŞ thanked the speakers and noted that events which connect the business world with the university offer students meaningful learning opportunities that formal coursework alone cannot replicate.
