The Importance of Cultural Heritage in Turkish-Islamic Archaeology Discussed in Denizli

The event titled “Traces of Turkish-Islamic Heritage in Denizli-I: Museum Talks”, organized by the Denizli Provincial Directorate of Culture and Tourism, was held on April 24, 2026, at the Denizli City Museum.

As part of the program, Dr. Barış Bozok, a faculty member of Pamukkale University, Department of Fine Arts Education, delivered a presentation titled “The Importance of Cultural Heritage in Turkish-Islamic Archaeology.”

In his presentation, Bozok emphasized the role of Turkish-Islamic archaeology in the preservation, documentation, and interpretation of cultural heritage extending from the past to the present. He highlighted the importance of examining material culture through scientific methods in order to better understand historical continuity and stressed the necessity of transmitting this heritage to future generations.

The program also included various presentations covering a wide range of topics, from Ottoman-period gravestones to regional archaeological excavations.

Focusing on the archaeological and historical dimensions of Turkish-Islamic cultural heritage, the event attracted significant interest from participants.
