Within the scope of "Midday Seminars" organized by Pamukkale University Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Assoc. Prof. Nagihan Durusoy ÖZTEPE from the Department of Labour Economics and Industrial Relations delivered her presentation titled "Redefining the Workplace: An Evaluation of the Advantages and Disadvantages of the Remote Work Model" on December 25, 2025, at the Şehit Piyade Teğmen Bekir Can Kerek Conference Hall.
Assoc. Prof. Nagihan Durusoy ÖZTEPE addressed the transformation created by digitalization and technological developments in working life, explaining the emergence process and reasons for the widespread adoption of remote work model. The effects of remote work practices that gained momentum especially in the post-pandemic period on labor markets and organizational structures were comprehensively examined.
The seminar emphasized advantages such as flexibility, time and cost savings offered by remote work model for employees. However, disadvantages that may arise in issues such as work-life balance, productivity, communication and organizational belonging were also addressed. The effects of remote work on management processes and performance evaluation systems from employers' perspective were discussed.
