-How can I apply for face-to-face individual psychological counseling services?

To benefit from face-to-face individual psychological counseling services, you need to visit the PDREM Secretariat, fill out the application form, and attend the initial interview appointment scheduled for you at the assigned date and time.

-Who can apply to PDREM?

All actively enrolled associate, undergraduate, and graduate students at Pamukkale University are eligible to apply. Applications from  PAÜ graduates and university staff are not accepted.

-Where is PDREM located?

PDREM is located on the Kınıklı Campus of Pamukkale University, directly across from the Faculty of Engineering cafeteria and located on the upper side of the Faculty of Education. It is a single-story prefabricated building.

-Are PDREM services free of charge?

Yes, all services provided by PDREM are free of charge.

-Is confidentiality ensured in counseling sessions?

All information shared during counseling sessions is strictly confidential. In other words, no identifying information such as your name, age, or department will be shared with third parties in accordance with the Personal Data Protection Law No. 6698 and the ethical principles of psychological counseling. During the application process and throughout the counseling period, you may be asked to complete certain forms or questionnaires. In such cases, the collected data may be used for scientific research while ensuring full confidentiality of your personal information. However, there are certain exceptional situations where confidentiality may be legally limited. If you express a risk of harm to yourself or others, we may be required under Articles 279 and 280 of the Turkish Penal Code (TCK) to contact relevant authorities or share information with authorized institutions.

-How can I apply for services?

Students who wish to benefit from individual or group counseling services must visit the PDREM secretariat to apply.

-How long is the waiting period after applying?

Depending on application volume and the date of application, the waiting period may range between 1 to 3 weeks.

-What is psychological counseling?

Psychological counseling is a process that helps individuals better understand themselves, increase self-awareness, and make meaningful changes in their lives. In this process, your counselor listens without judgment, with unconditional acceptance, and within a framework of confidentiality, trust, and respect for personal rights, supporting you in coping with difficulties in a sincere and supportive manner.

-How long does each session last?

Each individual counseling session lasts 40 minutesArriving late to an appointment will shorten your session. If you are more than 10 minutes late, the session is considered missed, and a new appointment will be scheduled for another day and time.

-How long does the counseling process continue?

The duration of counseling varies depending on each student’s individual needs. Sessions may be scheduled weekly or monthly depending on the student's needs. After completion, students may reapply if needed and receive services again when their turn on the waiting list comes on.

-What is the initial interview?

The initial interview is a session in which both the counselor and the client jointly decide whether to proceed with counseling. After filling out the online application form, an appointment is scheduled for you at an appropriate date.  Appointment dates are arranged based on the order of application on the waiting list.

-What should I do if I need to cancel or reschedule my appointment?

For the effectiveness of the psychological counseling process, it is important to attend sessions regularly. However, if you are unable to attend a session, you must inform the PDREM Secretariat at least 24 hours in advance by contacting +90 258 296 13 42 during weekdays between 08:00–12:00 and 13:00–17:00, or by sending an email to pdrem@pau.edu.tr.

In cases of emergency or other urgent situations where you cannot attend your appointment, you are expected to contact the PDREM Secretariat as soon as possible after the missed session.

-What is referral?

Your psychological counselor may refer you to a psychiatric outpatient clinic in cases involving conditions that fall within the scope of psychiatric diagnosis and treatment, such as depression; anxiety disorders (panic disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, social phobia, post-traumatic stress disorder); bipolar disorder; schizophrenia; alcohol or substance addiction; sexual dysfunctions; personality disorders; eating disorders; conversion disorder; hypochondriasis; tics; prolonged grief; impulse control disorders; self-harm behaviors; and suicidal ideation.

After evaluation and examination, the psychiatrist will plan an appropriate treatment for your mental health condition. You may ask your psychiatrist any questions you have regarding diagnosis and treatment.

-What is the orientation program?

Orientation Programs are designed to introduce the campus and its facilities and to support the adaptation process of newly enrolled students. These programs have been organized by PDREM since 2017.

-What is ORY101?

ORY101 is a non-credit program consisting of written and visual materials designed to support students’ academic, cultural, physical, and psychological development.

-How can I access ORY101?

ORY101 can be accessed online via the EDS platform for 14 weeks.

-What topics are covered in the online brochure series?

The online brochure series includes 34 topics such as communication, interpersonal relationships, motivation, concentration, effective studying, stress, depression, anxiety, loss and grief, perfectionism, anger, public speaking, and exam anxiety.

-How can I access the online brochure series?

The brochures can be downloaded via the “Documents” section at pau.edu.tr/pdrem by selecting the relevant tab.

-Where can I get information about workshops?
