A conference entitled ‘Changing Threats in an Evolving World: Artificial Intelligence, Biology and Genetics’, delivered by Prof. Dr Mahmut Faruk Akşit, Director General of TEI, was held at our institute.

Interest in the lecture was exceptionally high. Students from the Faculty of Engineering, academics and participants who had travelled to our institute from various parts of Denizli packed our lecture theatre to capacity.

During the conference, Prof. Akşit addressed key technological issues of our time, ranging from the risks posed by artificial intelligence to the security of personal data, and from smart devices to information security in the defence industry. He emphasised the importance of ensuring control over software and systems in critical technologies through national capabilities.

Speaking after the programme, Rector Prof. Dr Mahmud Güngör emphasised the importance of Turkey developing its own technological capabilities and expressed his hope that the young engineers trained in our country would take on strategic roles in the future. Rector Güngör stated, “We hope that our own young engineers, who have been trained in our country, will take on important roles and that our country will not be dependent on others in the field of technology.”

At the end of the programme, Rector Prof. Dr Mahmud Güngör expressed his gratitude to TEI General Manager Prof. Dr Mahmut Faruk Akşit for his contributions and insights, and also thanked all the guests who attended the event.
