Students from the Emergency and Disaster Management program at Serinhisar Vocational School became Support AFAD volunteers after receiving training from instructors at the Denizli Provincial Disaster and Emergency Management Directorate. Prior to the training, students received first aid training and completed online training through the AFAD volunteer system. The training lasted four days. On the first day, the concept of search and rescue, basic concepts, and the search and rescue assessment process (ASR) were discussed. On the second day, theoretical training was given on search and rescue team formation, methods of entering rubble, and the international rubble marking method. On the third day, the introduction and application of rescue equipment (hydraulic cutting and separating equipment, generator, concrete cutter, concrete breaker, airbags, and manual breaker) and the use of fire extinguishers were carried out. On the fourth day, practical training on tent pitching and a written exam were conducted. Having successfully completed the training, the students gained the knowledge and skills to support professional teams in disasters and emergencies.
We would like to thank the Denizli Provincial Disaster and Emergency Management Directorate for their support.
