International Success from Pamukkale University in Green and Sustainable Chemistry

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Deniz Akın Şahbaz, a faculty member of the Department of Chemical Engineering at Pamukkale University Faculty of Engineering, and Begüm Gülce Bizimyer, a graduate student in the Department of Chemical Engineering, participated in the 10th Green & Sustainable Chemistry Conference, organized by Elsevier and held in Dresden, Germany, between May 18–20, 2026.

As part of the conference, Begüm Gülce Bizimyer presented an oral paper entitled “Environmental Performance of Conventional and Alternative Textile Softeners: A Life Cycle Perspective.”

The study was conducted under the academic supervision and contributions of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Deniz Akın Şahbaz (advisor), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Burçin Atılgan Türkmen (co-advisor), and Prof. Dr. Abdullah Akdoğan. Technical support and data contributions were provided by NF Kimya.

The research was carried out within the scope of a master's thesis project funded by the Scientific Research Projects Coordination Unit (BAP) of Pamukkale University, entitled “Life Cycle Assessment and Comparison of the Environmental Impacts of Conventional and Sustainable Softeners Used in the Textile Industry.”

This study contributed to the dissemination of research on sustainable textile chemicals and life cycle assessment at an international platform, while also serving as an important example of scientific efforts aimed at developing environmentally friendly production approaches.

We congratulate our academics and student researcher on this achievement and wish them continued success in their future endeavors.
