The 8th PACES Student Conference, organized by our department on May 13, 2024, began with its opening session held at the Prof. Dr. İsmail Çetişli Conference Hall. The event started with the opening speeches delivered by Prof. Dr. Şeyda Sivrioğlu, Head of the Department, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Umay Oğuzhanoğlu Akay, Vice Dean, followed by a keynote lecture and presentation by Prof. Dr. Jeanne Dubino from Appalachian State University, titled “What are Literary Animal Studies?”
The conference then continued in the department classrooms with 24 students from various universities across Turkey presenting their papers in eight sessions. This year’s theme, “Nature,” inspired a wide range of studies and discussions on topics such as nature and literature, nature and identity, nature and language, nature and mythology, and more.
Held with great interest and participation, the event concluded successfully, and it was announced that the 9th PACES Student Conference will take place in 2025.
