Clinical Key for Electrical Stimulation in Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation (CK4Stim)
The Clinical Key for Electrical Stimulation in Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation (CK4Stim) is a Cooperation Partnership in Vocational Education and Training project supported by the Turkish National Agency under the KA220-VET programme and the European Union. The project was coordinated by Prof. Dr. Nilüfer ÇETİŞLİ KORKMAZ and focused on electrical stimulation approaches. It was implemented through a partnership of universities from Türkiye and the European Union.
Under the coordination of Pamukkale University (PAU, Türkiye), the project was conducted in partnership with:
-
Hatay Mustafa Kemal University (HMKU, Türkiye)
-
Başkent University (BU, Türkiye)
-
Süleyman Demirel University (SDU, Türkiye)
-
University of Craiova (UCV, Romania)
-
Šiauliai State University of Applied Sciences (ŠVK, Lithuania)
-
Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University (MAKU, Türkiye)
In addition to the Turkish Physiotherapy Association, physiotherapy associations from Romania, Lithuania, and Estonia participated as associated partners.
Within the scope of the project, a curriculum on electrical stimulation was developed. A 39-chapter guidebook in PDF format, short presentations in PowerPoint format, and video presentations available through YouTube were produced in Turkish, Romanian, Lithuanian, and English and made available to physiotherapists in the partner countries.
In addition to the limited evidence regarding electrical stimulation approaches in the literature, there is a need for a common language in physiotherapy and rehabilitation education and practice concerning electrical stimulation across Europe and worldwide. The CK4Stim project aimed to increase awareness of electrical stimulation and encourage the use of innovative practices among academic staff, clinical and research physiotherapists, and university students. It also sought to improve physiotherapists’ competencies through on-site training activities.
With the support of the Turkish Physiotherapy Association, physiotherapists’ knowledge, attitudes, and skill levels regarding electrical stimulation were assessed. Based on the findings, comprehensive training modules were developed for physiotherapists, academic staff, and university students to raise awareness of electrical stimulation approaches.
The 39 chapters and related free, open-access distance-learning materials are available in four languages at:

The pilot implementation was launched following a panel held during the 9th National Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Congress organized by the Turkish Physiotherapy Association. The panel was chaired by Prof. Dr. Nuray KIRDI and the Association President, Prof. Dr. Tülin DÜGER.
The closing event of the CK4Stim project was held following a workshop attended by the Denizli Branch of the Turkish Physiotherapy Association, its President Physiotherapist Nezahat AKIN, and physiotherapist colleagues.
Within the scope of the project, the following activities were organized:
-
2 international congresses
-
3 national congresses
-
3 national conferences
-
6 transnational project partner meetings
-
17 information meetings
The project partners also presented the CK4Stim project and its outputs at numerous academic events.
