History of the Department

The foundations of Pamukkale University Faculty of Education date back to the Denizli Girls’ Teacher Training School, which was established in 1957. In 1982, this institution was renamed Denizli School of Higher Education and affiliated with Dokuz Eylül University Buca Faculty of Education. Following the establishment of Pamukkale University through Law No. 3837 dated July 3, 1992, the institution was restructured as Pamukkale University Faculty of Education on November 10, 1992.

The Turkish Language Teaching Program was established in the 1998 academic year with the aim of training Turkish language teachers and began admitting students in the same year. The department, which had previously operated as an independent unit, was incorporated into the Department of Turkish and Social Sciences Education in 2016. The student quota of the program is determined annually, and approximately 60 students are enrolled each year.
