Department of Plant and Animal Production
Due to ecological conditions, Turkey enjoys significant freedom among countries with diverse agricultural structures worldwide, serving as a center for the genetic diversity of many species and varieties. Furthermore, many species and varieties cultivated globally can be easily grown in Turkey, thanks to its suitable ecology, and Turkey's rich variety of species and varieties, along with its potential for fruit production, plays a crucial role in global agriculture.
The primary objective of the Department of Plant and Animal Production is to employ technical personnel with sufficient knowledge and practical skills in plant and animal production, quality control, preservation, and market preparation, capable of meeting the needs of both public and private sector research and development, as well as other individual requirements.
The Department of Plant and Animal Production was established in 2012 within the Pamukkale University Tavas Vocational School. It is a department with two programs, taught in Turkish, lasting two years (four semesters). The department offers Organic Agriculture and Medicinal and Aromatic Plants programs and continues its educational activities with six instructors. Theoretical courses are taught in computer-assisted classrooms with projectors, accommodating 50 students. Practical courses are conducted in a 24-acre Plant and Animal Production application area that includes a 960 m² Gothic greenhouse, where laboratories and administrative facilities can be established.
After graduating and earning the title of Agricultural Technician, students can work in Provincial/District Agricultural and Forestry Directorates, Research Institutes, Municipalities, Agricultural Credit Cooperatives, Chambers of Agriculture, Agricultural Sales Cooperatives, Agricultural Development Cooperatives, private sector businesses, and in their own plant and animal production ventures. Alternatively, they can transfer to 4-year undergraduate programs through a vertical transfer exam.
