A field trip to the Denizli Metropolitan Municipality Council was organized as part of the Local Government course

Trip

16 March 2026 - 23 March 2026

During a field trip organized as part of the “Local Governments - II” course, students reinforced their theoretical knowledge by observing the operations of the Denizli Metropolitan Municipality Council firsthand.

Our department continues to bring the “from theory to practice” principle into the field. As part of the field trip, which was conducted with the participation of Prof. Dr. Pınar Savaş Yavuzçehre and Research Assistant Alperen Akgül, students enrolled in the Local Government - II course attended a meeting of the Denizli Metropolitan Municipality Council. Organized to allow students to witness the practical application of topics covered in class—such as decentralization, decision-making processes, municipal legislation, and council oversight—this event provided students with a firsthand look at how a local parliament operates. Throughout the meeting, students closely observed the discussion of agenda items, voting procedures, and the dynamics of political group debates. We would like to thank the faculty members and students who participated.
