Pamukkale University, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Department of Political Science and Public Administration was established in 2000 with the name of "Department of Public Administration" and started undergraduate education with 1 faculty member and 50 students and graduate education with the Master of Public Administration program. In 2001, a second education program was opened, and 50 students enrolled in this program. By the end of 2003, there were five faculty members and 12 research assistants in the department and the department graduated its first undergraduate and graduate students.

In 2008, the department switched to a 30% English program, a compulsory preparatory class was started, and the student quota doubled to 100 students for regular education. In the same year, the Public Administration PhD program started education and graduated its first graduate in 2015. In 2009, the department switched to a 30% English program for the second education and the quota doubled to 100 students. In 2011, 30% English programs were closed since they did not meet the expectations and since then, the department has been continuing its undergraduate education with regular and second education Turkish programs.

Students can optionally attend a one-year English preparatory class before starting the department. As of now, the department has a total of 13 faculty members, including four professors, three associate professors and six doctoral faculty members; one lecturer and six research assistants, one of whom is a doctor. Two of our research assistants have completed their postgraduate education in our department within the scope of the "Faculty Member Training Program (ÖYP)". In 2011, the name of the department was changed from "Public Administration" to "Political Science and Public Administration", and since 2013, master's programs have been carried out in the departments of "Political Science and Public Administration" (with / without thesis), "Political Science" (with / without thesis) and "Public Administration and Urban Studies" (with / without thesis).

Our department organized "Urban Economic Research Symposiums (KEAS)" in 2003, 2005 and 2009 respectively. The first one (KEAS'03) was held in September 2003 in Denizli in cooperation with the State Planning Organization (SPO), the second one (KEAS'05) was held in June 2005 in Denizli in cooperation with SPO, Denizli Governorship and Denizli Municipality, and the third one (KEAS'09) was held in October 2009 in Denizli. In addition, our department organized the Public Administration Symposium (KAYSEM III) in 2007 and the 1st National Political Science Congress (USIB) in November 2012.
