Psychological Counseling and Guidance

The foundations of the Faculty of Education at Pamukkale University date back to the Denizli Girls’ Teacher School, which was established in 1957. This institution was renamed Denizli Higher Teacher School in 1982 and affiliated with Dokuz Eylül University’s Buca Faculty of Education. Following the establishment of Pamukkale University by Law No. 3837 on July 3, 1992, it was restructured as the Faculty of Education of Pamukkale University on November 10, 1992. Within the Department of Guidance and Psychological Counseling, bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degree programs are offered. The undergraduate program commenced in the 2002–2003 academic year, followed by the master's program in 2005–2006 and the doctoral program in 2018–2019. Since graduating its first cohort of undergraduate students in 2006, the department has continued to grow both in quality and quantity. Educational activities are carried out by a dynamic academic staff composed of experts in the field, in a democratic and participatory environment that is aligned with contemporary developments and innovations in the discipline. Currently, the department has eight professors, one associate professor, one lecturer, and four research assistants. Our program offers daytime instruction (first cycle) and provides both theoretical knowledge and practical training. In addition to six classrooms for undergraduate courses and one for graduate-level instruction, the department includes four individual counseling rooms and one group counseling room specifically designed for students’ practicum studies.
