HISTORY

Since its establishment, the Pamukkale University Conference of English Studies (PACES) has aimed to provide an academic platform for undergraduate students to share and discuss their ideas on literature, language, and culture. Organized by Pamukkale University's Department of English Language and Literature, PACES is an international academic conference that brings together undergraduates primarily from English Language and Literature, American Culture and Literature, Comparative Literature, and World Languages and Literatures departments who have a strong interest in literary and cultural studies and are able to present in English.

PACES was first held in 2016 without a specific theme and welcomed students from various universities. The second edition of the conference was organized in 2017 under the theme “Evil”, attracting 67 participants.

In 2018, PACES was held under the theme “Food and Drink”, with 50 participants. In 2019, the conference adopted the theme “Time”, with 53 participants.

In 2020, PACES was organised under the theme “Dream”, bringing together 40 participants. The theme continued in 2021 under the title “Dreams”, with 42 participants.

The 2022 conference embraced the theme “Awareness”, with 40 participants. PACES 2023 addressed issues within the framework of the theme “Culture.” In 2024, the conference was organized under the theme “Nature”, welcoming 54 participants.

Most recently, in 2025, PACES was held under the theme “Woman”, achieving its highest attendance to date with 71 participants.

Over the years, PACES has established itself as a respected national academic conference that brings together undergraduate students from universities across Turkey, supporting academic development, critical discourse, and interdisciplinary engagement in the field of English language and literature.
