On 14 March 2025, the Department of Mathematics Education and the Mathematics Education Community at Pamukkale University Faculty of Education held the event “Celebrating the International Day of Mathematics with Students,” under the leadership of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Çağlar Naci HIDIROĞLU, Head of the Department of Mathematics Education, and with the advisership of Asst. Prof. Dr. Yeliz ÖZKAN HIDIROĞLU for the Mathematics Education Community. As part of the event, nearly 500 primary and lower secondary school students and their teachers embarked on an exciting, discovery-oriented and enjoyable journey into the extraordinary world of mathematics and science through competitions, curiosity-driven activities, and hands-on exploration. Together with teacher Yusuf Öksüz and the Educational Volunteers Foundation of Turkey (TEGV), mathematics teacher candidates organized workshops, activities, games, and competitions, creating a highly engaging and entertaining experience. The opening was attended by Faculty of Education Vice Deans Assoc. Prof. Dr. Turgut TÜRKDOĞAN and Asst. Prof. Dr. Gülözge TÜRKÖZ, Faculty Secretary Mustafa MIZRAK, and Prof. Dr. Serkan SEVİM, Chair of the Department of Mathematics and Science Education.
The second event of the day, the “Panel on the 2024 Türkiye Yüzyılı Maarif Model Mathematics Curriculum,” was hosted at the Pamukkale University Faculty of Education. Moderated by Prof. Dr. Asuman DUATEPE PAKSU, a faculty member of the Department of Mathematics Education, the panel featured graduates of the Elementary Mathematics Teacher Education program who took part in the curriculum development and textbook authoring processes, mathematics teachers İlknur KASAPSARAÇOĞLU and Büşra YÜKSAL SARAY, as well as Hasibe DİNÇER, who is implementing the new curriculum in 5th grades. They shared their knowledge, experiences, and insights.

The final event of the day was an online presentation by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sibel KAZAK, one of the founding faculty members of the Department of Mathematics Education at Pamukkale University. Aimed at participants interested in mathematics, statistics, and technology integration in mathematics education, her talk was titled “Exploring Secondary Data with Technology: The CODAP (Common Online Data Analysis Platform) Application.” We extend our thanks to all participants for helping to create such a rich learning environment.
