Updated Date: 15 May 2026

The Pamukkale University Faculty of Agriculture continues to organize technical field trips to ensure students can reinforce their theoretical knowledge with practical field experience. In this context, a comprehensive visit was conducted to the West Mediterranean Agricultural Research Institute (BATEM) on May 8, 2026.

Academic Supervision and Student Participation

A total of 50 students from the Departments of Horticulture and Field Crops participated in the trip, accompanied by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Levent Kırca and Asst. Prof. Dr. Tahsin Beycioğlu. Throughout the visit, students had the opportunity to observe the ongoing projects at BATEM, one of Turkey’s most established agricultural research centers.

Field Applications and Laboratory Inspections

The program covered a wide range of agricultural disciplines. Students visited several units and received detailed briefings from experts:

  • Production Departments: Research plots and production techniques in the Horticulture, Vegetable Production, Ornamental Plants, and Medicinal & Aromatic Plants departments were examined.

  • R&D Laboratories: Students toured the Medicinal and Aromatic Plants Central Research Laboratory, Soil Laboratory, and Food Laboratories, where they observed modern analysis processes and research methodologies.

Bridging Theory and Practice

At the end of the visit, our faculty members and students expressed their gratitude to the BATEM staff for their hospitality. It was emphasized that such technical trips are vital for broadening students' professional visions and accelerating their adaptation to the sector after graduation.

Our faculty remains committed to bringing students together with leading industry institutions and introducing them to the latest agricultural technologies firsthand.
