General Information

The Management and Organization Department's Emergency and Disaster Management program aims to train personnel with the knowledge and skills needed to effectively cope with emergencies and disasters. In this context, students in the Emergency and Disaster Management program receive basic theoretical knowledge in areas such as search and rescue, firefighting, health, management, etc., as well as practical courses that will strengthen their employment in public institutions and organizations and the private sector. To ensure our students are fully proficient in their professions, they are required to complete mandatory internship programs during the summer semesters, preparing them for working life even while they are still students. Currently, the Emergency and Disaster Management program is actively offered within the Management and Organization Department at our Vocational School.

Objectives

The main objectives of the Management and Organization Department's Emergency and Disaster Management program are: The aim is to train graduates who possess the necessary knowledge, equipment, and skills in extraordinary situations such as disasters and emergencies, who can utilize existing resources most effectively, who can manage risks and crises well, who follow current developments in this field, and who continuously improve themselves.

EMERGENCY AND DISASTER MANAGEMENT

Department Description

The main objective of the Emergency and Disaster Management Program is to train experts who understand the field of Emergency and Disaster Management in all its aspects, including its institutional structures and historical development, who are familiar with professional application areas, who can transform their knowledge in the field into practical applications, who can use their field knowledge in different work environments, who can conduct applied scientific research, and who have gained competence in this field.

The program comprises a 2-year education consisting of 4 semesters of 14 weeks each. During this process, education is conducted using a 3+1 education model, with 3 semesters of theoretical and practical training and 1 semester of on-the-job training.

Students who successfully complete this program are entitled to receive an Associate's Degree in Emergency and Disaster Management, earning the title of Emergency and Disaster Management Technician.

Students who successfully complete the program can transfer to related bachelor's degree programs through the Vertical Transfer Exam (DGS).

Courses are taught by department faculty members. The Emergency and Disaster Management Program has 1 Assistant Professor and 3 Lecturers.
