Art and Education
The Department of Art Education was established in 1994 within the Faculty of Education at Pamukkale University. Following the restructuring of teacher education programs in 1998, it became the Division of Visual Arts Education under the Department of Fine Arts Education. Our educational approach
brings together artistic practice, theoretical thinking,
and professional teacher education.
In addition to studio-based and practical art courses,
our students receive a comprehensive education in areas
such as art history, art theory, and art education.
The programme aims to develop subject-specific knowledge
together with professional teaching competencies.
Our aim is to educate visual arts teachers who create,
research, think critically, understand art, and approach
art education from a contemporary perspective.
Our Studios
Our students have the opportunity to develop their artistic practice through hands-on experience in Painting, Photography, Graphic Design, Sculpture, and Industrial Design studios as part of the Major Art Studio course. In addition, Basic Design, Drawing, and Printmaking studios enable students to strengthen their fundamental artistic knowledge and skills and gain experience with a variety of techniques.

Artistic and Academic Life
Exhibitions, workshops, conferences, student activities,
and collaborative projects with different institutions
form an important part of our educational environment.
These activities enable students to present their work
to audiences and develop their own artistic approaches.
In addition to undergraduate education, our master's and
doctoral programmes provide opportunities for students
to continue their academic and artistic development at
the postgraduate level.
Campus and Denizli
Kınıklı Campus offers a vibrant and diverse university
environment with its library, cultural centres, student
clubs, sports facilities, and social opportunities.
Denizli, home to important cultural heritage sites such
as Pamukkale, Hierapolis, and Laodicea, provides art
students with a rich environment in which history, art,
and cultural heritage can be experienced first-hand.
International Opportunities
Our Erasmus+ agreements provide students and academic
staff with opportunities to study, teach, and gain
academic experience in different countries.
Why Art Education?
Integrating artistic practice, academic knowledge, and
teacher education, our programme supports students in
developing their individual artistic identities while
preparing them to become contemporary visual arts
educators.
