As Pamukkale University Serinhisar Vocational School's Knifemaking and Hand Tools Production Technology Program, we participated in the Bursa Knife Festival, organized to commemorate the 700th anniversary of the conquest of Bursa and bringing together leading figures in the sector. Throughout the festival, we shared our academic expertise and organized events that touched upon the future of craftsmanship.
We had the opportunity to introduce our program to protocol members and participants at the opening ceremony, and on the third day of the festival, we conveyed our academic vision to a wide audience with our presentation titled "The Dance of Steel with Fire: The Birth Story of a Knife" on the main stage. During the event, we hosted distinguished guests at our stand, including AK Party Bursa Members of Parliament Mr. Mustafa Varank and Ms. Emine Yavuz Gözgeç, AK Party Deputy Chairman of Local Governments Mr. Recep Altepe, and Bursa Metropolitan Municipality Deputy Mayor Mr. Şahin Biba, providing them with information about our department.
Our three-day "Make Your Own Knife" workshop, especially for children, was one of the most popular attractions of the festival. Thanks to this workshop, our young artisans had the chance to experience firsthand, under the guidance of experts, many details from the anatomy of a knife to its production processes.
Following the festival, on our way back to Denizli, we turned our route towards the PİRGE knife factory, one of Turkey's established brands. During our technical visit, we had productive discussions with factory officials about our current work and future plans, while enabling our students to reinforce the theoretical knowledge they learned at school in a hands-on industrial production setting.
