DEPARTMENT OF FINANCE, BANKING AND INSURANCE

GENERAL INFORMATION

The Associate Degree Program in Public Finance is a four-semester program offered within the Department of Finance, Banking and Insurance. The Finance, Banking and Insurance Program is an associate degree program aimed at providing students with fundamental knowledge and skills related to financial markets, the banking system, and insurance activities. In addition to theoretical knowledge, the program includes practice-oriented courses.

The department offers education in daytime education mode, and the language of instruction is 100% Turkish. The academic staff of the department consists of three lecturers who are experts in their respective fields. The total student quota of the department is 42.

STUDENT ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Students are admitted to the program through the Higher Education Institutions Examination (YKS), YKS Additional Placement, and the ÖSYM TYT university entrance examination process. In addition, students may be admitted through Inter-Institutional Horizontal Transfer and Central Horizontal Transfer procedures.

OBJECTIVES OF THE DEPARTMENT

The objective of the department is to train qualified intermediate staff who can work in the finance, banking, and insurance sectors, perform basic financial analysis, carry out banking transactions, and have a good command of insurance processes.

STUDENT PROFILE

This program is suitable for students who have strong numerical thinking skills, are interested in financial issues, and are careful and analytical thinkers. Students with strong communication skills and an aptitude for teamwork tend to be more successful in the program.

Today, the science of public finance plays a very important role in public administration. It is not possible to understand the economy without understanding the state. Therefore, it is essential to have a good knowledge of financial matters and to be able to produce solutions to financial problems. Students who wish to study in this program are expected to be capable of handling accounting practices, following and interpreting economic developments, generating ideas, and maintaining a strong interest in reading and continuous research.

ACADEMIC PROGRESSION OPPORTUNITIES

Graduates who complete the associate degree program may transfer to relevant undergraduate programs through the Vertical Transfer Examination (DGS) conducted by ÖSYM. These programs include Banking, Banking and Finance, Banking and Insurance, Economics, Customs Management, Public Administration, Public Finance, Capital Markets, Capital Markets Auditing and Rating, Insurance, Insurance and Risk Management, Political Science, Political Science and Public Administration, International Finance, International Business, International Trade, International Trade and Finance, International Trade and Logistics, and related fields.

In addition, graduates may enroll in the Open Education Faculties of Economics or Business Administration at Anadolu University without an examination and continue their education from the third year, eventually graduating with a bachelor’s degree.

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES FOR GRADUATES

Graduates of the department may find employment opportunities in banks, insurance companies, finance and accounting departments, leasing and factoring companies, financial units of public and private institutions, and insurance agencies, among many other fields.
