Department Overview

Econometrics is an interdisciplinary field that brings together economics, statistics and mathematics to analyse economic and social phenomena through data.

WHAT IS ECONOMETRICS?

Literally meaning “economic measurement,” econometrics is a field that tests economic theories using mathematical models and statistical methods, explains economic relationships through data, and develops forecasts for the future.

Program Structure

The Department of Econometrics at Pamukkale University, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, offers a four-year undergraduate program with a strong emphasis on quantitative and analytical courses. The program integrates economic theory, statistical methods, mathematical modelling, econometrics and operations research within a comprehensive educational framework.

Objectives of the Undergraduate Program

Program Outcomes

The knowledge, skills and competencies expected of students who successfully complete the Undergraduate Program in Econometrics are listed below.

PO-1 Acquires knowledge of the fundamental concepts of econometrics and economic theory and discusses basic economic problems within a theoretical framework.
PO-2 Follows theoretical innovations and current developments in the fields of econometrics and economics.
PO-3 Applies statistical tests to problems encountered in everyday life and interprets the results obtained.
PO-4 Applies theoretical approaches such as constrained profit maximisation, cost minimisation and transportation problems to real-world problems.
PO-5 Collects, classifies and analyses data related to economic issues.
PO-6 Uses one or more software packages employed in econometric and statistical analyses.
PO-7 Possesses an awareness of and competence in professional and ethical responsibility.
PO-8 Constructs an economic model, estimates the model using econometric techniques and interprets the results obtained.
PO-9 Works effectively in disciplinary and interdisciplinary teams.
PO-10 Explains developments in the Turkish economy regarding economic growth, inflation, unemployment, interest rates, exchange rates, foreign investment and international trade.
PO-11 Conducts applied research in the research departments of public and private sector organisations in the fields of macroeconomics, microeconomics, international economics and operations research.
PO-12 Develops the potential to prepare plans aimed at improving organisational efficiency and to manage and supervise related activities.
