Department Introduction
Econometrics undergraduate program is a four-year department in the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences (FEAS), where quantitative courses are predominant. Econometrics is an interdisciplinary field of study in which economics, statistics and mathematics are used together. Econometrics, which literally means "economic measurement", tries to prove economic theories using mathematical and statistical methods.
Econometrics is used in many fields such as sociology, psychology, biology, medicine, marketing, education and history, especially in economics and finance. Developing computer and software technologies contribute positively to the fields of econometrics and the success of econometric studies.
Students who want to choose the econometrics department should have high numerical thinking skills, be bored of dealing with numbers and be used to disciplined work. Students who graduate from the econometrics department receive the title of "econometrician" and have the ability to process, analyze and report data.
Graduates of the Department of Econometrics have many working areas in the public and private sectors. They work in public institutions such as the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat), the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (CBRT), the Capital Markets Board (CMB), the Ministry of Treasury and Finance, the Undersecretariat of Foreign Trade, and in research and development (R&D), planning and budget units of private institutions, especially in the banking and insurance sectors. Graduates of econometrics department are especially preferred for positions such as reporting specialist, data analysis specialist, demand planning specialist, risk analysis specialist, data miner, process improvement specialist, supply chain specialist, pricing specialist, capacity planning specialist, business analysis specialist.
The Department of Econometrics at Pamukkale University Faculty of Economics and Administrative Economics has a dynamic academic staff that focuses on student development. The fact that the student population of our department is not high allows students to better direct their career path. In addition, our students have the right to receive a double diploma with double major - minor education and have the opportunity to improve themselves through education programs such as Erasmus and Farabi.
