ABOUT THE INSTITUTE
Our Institute was established by the Council of Ministers Decision dated April 4, 2011, and numbered 2011/1595. In accordance with the decisions of the Institute Board of Educational Sciences dated January 10, 2012 (No. 01/1), and the Institute Administrative Board dated February 6, 2012 (No. 01/1), students were transferred from the Institute of Social Sciences and the Institute of Natural Sciences to the following programs: PhD, thesis-based, and non-thesis Master’s programs in Educational Administration, Supervision, Planning, and Economics; PhD in Primary Education; thesis-based Master’s programs in Classroom Teaching, Preschool Education, Science Education, Social Studies Education, and Primary Mathematics Education; thesis-based Master’s programs in Music Education and Art Education; as well as thesis-based Master’s programs in Turkish Education and English Language Education.
By the decisions of the Executive Board of the Council of Higher Education, the following programs were subsequently established: a non-thesis Master’s program in Primary Mathematics Education (March 9, 2016); a PhD program in Preschool Education (March 14, 2018); PhD programs in Physical Education and Sports Teaching, English Language Education, and Music Education (February 20, 2019); a thesis-based Master’s program in Family Counseling (September 12, 2019); PhD programs in Classroom Education, Turkish Education, and Science Education (March 25, 2020); and non-thesis Master’s programs in Preschool Education, Science Education, Turkish Education, and Social Studies Education (July 1, 2020).
Following the restructuring of Faculties of Education by the decision of the Council of Higher Education Executive Board dated June 15, 2016, our Institute has continued to offer graduate education across 7 departments, including 14 thesis-based Master’s programs, 9 PhD programs, and 4 non-thesis Master’s programs.
The Institute does not have an independent building; it operates on the fourth floor of the Faculty of Education building at the Kınıklı Campus. Classrooms and practice facilities of the Faculty of Education are utilized for instructional purposes.
Academic activities and graduate education within the Institute are carried out by faculty members from the Faculty of Education and the Faculty of Sport Sciences.
