The Department of Primary Education, whose origins trace back to the Denizli Girls' Teacher Training School and later the Denizli Education Institute, began its operations as a department with the establishment of Pamukkale University in 1992. In the 1998-1999 academic year, with the restructuring of faculties of education, it was renamed the Primary School Teacher Training Program.
The Department of Primary Teacher Education was part of the Department of Elementary Education until the end of the 2015-2016 spring semester. Based on the decision of the Council of Higher Education (YÖK) dated February 28, 2017, various updates were made to the names of departments and programs within the framework of teacher training undergraduate programs. Following this decision, the Department of Elementary Education was closed, the Department of Basic Education was established, and the name of the Department of Primary Teacher Education was changed to the Department of Primary Education. The undergraduate program is officially defined by YÖK as the "Primary School Teacher Training Program."
While the Department of Primary Education at Pamukkale University was located in İncilipınar for many years along with the Faculty of Education, it has been serving its students in its current building at the Kınıklı Campus since 2008. Below are the buildings used from past to present.
