Globalization, by enabling the free movement of both goods and capital internationally, has led to an increase in the foreign trade (exports and imports) volumes of countries. Turkey has also been increasing its share in world foreign trade volume over the years. In our country, which is rapidly progressing towards becoming a significant player in global markets, there is an increasing need for trained and qualified workforce in foreign trade.

The Aim of the Foreign Trade Program:

The foreign trade program aims to train mid-level personnel to work in foreign trade-related sectors such as banking, transportation, and customs, which are based on import and export.

Some of the Courses Taught in the Program:

The duration of the education is 2 years, conducted both theoretically and practically. The foreign trade program includes courses on export and import practices, their taxation and accounting, as well as customs legislation, basic economics, business administration, accounting, law, commercial law, international marketing, international transportation, logistics, and professional English.

Required Qualifications:
To be able to enter the foreign trade program and increase their chances of success as a Foreign Trade Professional after graduation, students must first and foremost be disciplined, responsible, possess an entrepreneurial spirit, and have analytical thinking skills. Furthermore, to become a successful foreign trade professional, it is evident that it is necessary to follow changes in foreign trade and customs legislation and to improve one's foreign language level.

Titles, Jobs, and Fields of Employment of Graduates:
Graduates of the foreign trade program are awarded the title of "Foreign Trade Professional". Foreign trade professionals generally work in; Graduates of the foreign trade program can work as middle-level managers or senior-level assistant managers in customs offices and import/export companies. They act as intermediaries in establishing connections for international buying and selling of goods, preparing necessary contracts, and continuously monitoring the timely arrival of goods purchased from abroad. They also handle the necessary procedures for the timely and satisfactory delivery of goods to export companies in the destination country, ensuring payment for goods purchased from abroad is made in accordance with the contract and that payment for goods sold abroad is received on time. They constantly monitor laws and regulations related to foreign trade.
Graduates of the foreign trade program can work in organizations affiliated with the Ministry of Finance and Customs, chambers of commerce and industry, banks and financial institutions (especially in foreign exchange departments), foreign trade departments of private companies engaged in export and/or import, insurance, customs and foreign trade consulting firms, and transportation companies. Furthermore, upon successful completion of exams, they can obtain a B certificate and work as Assistant Customs Brokers. Students with an entrepreneurial spirit can also successfully manage their own businesses.
Graduates of foreign trade also have the opportunity to transfer to regular education or to relevant Open Education undergraduate programs if they are successful in the DGS (Vertical Transfer Exam).
