About Department

Department of The Tourism Guide Pamukkale University's Faculty of Tourism is an undergraduate program that aims to train qualified professional tourist guides who can introduce Türkiye's rich historical, cultural, and natural heritage on accurate, ethical, and scientific grounds. The department combines tourism sector expertise with academic knowledge, offering students a comprehensive education in areas such as history, archaeology, art history, mythology, history of religions, cultural heritage, communication, tourism legislation, and professional guiding knowledge.

Thanks to an educational model that combines theoretical courses with field trips, practical studies, and professional applications, students gain the skills to become effective and competent tourist guides in the field. The significant cultural and natural heritage of Pamukkale and its surroundings serves as a vibrant practical laboratory for the department's students.

In this regard, our department;

  • Fully equipped with the qualifications required by the Tourist Guide Profession Law No. 6326 and related regulations.
  • Able to speak at least one foreign language (preferably two) at a level proficient in professional terminology,
  • Possessing strong communication skills, excellent interpersonal abilities, and leadership qualities.
  • Highly knowledgeable and intellectually accomplished, with a strong understanding of the history of Anatolian civilizations and world art.
  • Able to adapt to the digital transformation in the tourism sector and the changing tourist profiles,
  • It aims to bring ethical, tolerant, and visionary professional tourist guides into the sector.

Our department's mission is to provide a high-quality education that combines theory and practice by blending academic knowledge with the unique practical opportunities offered by Denizli, one of the capitals of tourism, and the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Hierapolis.
