About Us

The Department of Mathematics, which provides education within the Faculty of Science of Pamukkale University established in 1992, consists of six academic divisions: Analysis and Function Theory, Geometry, Applied Mathematics, Algebra and Number Theory, Foundations of Mathematics and Mathematical Logic, and Topology.

The department offers a four-year undergraduate program through formal (daytime) education.

For research-oriented study, the Department of Mathematics within the Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences offers Master’s and PhD programs. In addition to its own courses, the Mathematics Department also provides mathematics courses for other faculties and departments of the university.

The department currently has 15 Professors, 2 Associate Professors, 3 Assistant Professors, 1 Lecturer, and 3 Research Assistants.


Tuition Fees

There is no tuition fee for the undergraduate daytime education program of the Department of Mathematics. Students are not required to pay any additional fees for course applications, materials, exams, or educational services.


Program Content, Education, and Instruction Model

The main objective of the Department of Mathematics is to graduate students who are well educated in all aspects of mathematics. More specifically, the goals of the department are:

  1. To educate students as confident individuals in their chosen field of Mathematics.

  2. To prepare students sufficiently for graduate studies.

  3. To train mathematicians who can effectively convey their knowledge to students at lower educational levels.

  4. To develop self-confidence in solving problems with little or no assistance.

  5. To graduate students with a strong educational background for careers in public institutions, industry, and commerce.

  6. To train mathematicians capable of working independently.

  7. To be a respected, institutionalized, and visionary department that has achieved international standards through qualified education and scientific studies, and that maintains coordination with leading universities worldwide.

Students who successfully complete all program requirements graduate with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics and receive the title of Mathematician.


Minor Program Options

Our department has minor agreements with the following departments: Physics, Computer Engineering, Electrical-Electronics Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Economics, Business Administration, Public Finance, and Management Information Systems. Students who take courses from these departments will receive a competency certificate specific to the field of study. This certificate is intended to facilitate their transition into professional life.


Campus Location

Our department is located on Kınıklı Campus of Pamukkale University. The campus lies southeast of Denizli city center. The Faculty of Science building where the Mathematics Department is located is situated on the western side of the campus. Faculty offices and classrooms used by our department are located on the 1st and 2nd floors of Block A.


Optional Foreign Language Preparatory Class, Courses, Internship, Exchange Programs

The Department of Mathematics offers an optional foreign language preparatory class, where language instruction is provided by instructors from the Pamukkale University School of Foreign Languages.

In addition to courses offered by Mathematics faculty members, students may also take courses from other departments of the Faculty of Science, enabling a multidisciplinary education. There is no internship course requirement in the Mathematics program.

Students who meet the necessary requirements may benefit from national exchange programs such as Farabi and international exchange programs such as Mevlana and Erasmus.


Dormitories

The female student dormitory is located within Kınıklı Campus (Çamlaraltı neighborhood), while the male student dormitory is located in Bağbaşı neighborhood near the campus.


Part-Time Student Employment and Scholarships

There are opportunities for students to work as part-time student employees at our university. Pamukkale University also provides meal scholarships. Conditions regarding wages and meal scholarships are determined by the directive titled Regulation on Part-Time Student Employment and Student Meal Scholarships.


On-Campus Services

Pamukkale University students can benefit free of charge from outpatient and primary healthcare services at the MEDIKO Social Center located on Kınıklı Campus. Students who document that neither they nor their parents (for whom they are dependents) are registered with any social security institution are issued a health card, and their treatment and medication expenses are covered by the university.

Additionally, the university’s PDREM (Psychological Counseling, Guidance Education, Research and Application Center) provides orientation, counseling, and psychological support services.

Students may also use the sports facilities of the Şehit Ömer Halisdemir Sports Center on campus by obtaining membership.

Dining halls, canteens, cafeterias, and social facilities located within Kınıklı Campus serve our students.

Students can further develop themselves outside their courses by participating in student clubs within Pamukkale University and in various courses offered by PAÜSEM (Pamukkale University Continuing Education Center).


Our Graduates

Graduates of the Mathematics Department are employed in many professional fields in both the public and private sectors. In addition, graduates who complete pedagogical formation training can work as teachers in educational institutions affiliated with the Ministry of National Education.

Mathematics graduates may also pursue academic careers by continuing with postgraduate education.
