Purpose of the Department of Mathematics:
To educate individuals who can produce new mathematical knowledge, collaborate with social sciences, create and solve mathematical models for problems encountered in professional life, promote analytical thinking, and contribute to the development of society and individuals.

Mission of the Department of Mathematics:
To increase our contribution to graduate education across Pamukkale University; to establish a dynamic and productive academic staff in theoretical and applied mathematics; to undertake active initiatives that will increase the demand for qualified personnel from within the Mathematics Department for graduate education; and to structure undergraduate and graduate education in line with the department’s mission.

Vision of the Department of Mathematics:
One of our primary goals is to be among the best Mathematics Departments worldwide in terms of education. With a sense of social responsibility, we aim to educate mathematicians who can respond to the current and future needs of national and global societies, use and develop new technologies, effectively utilize mathematics—the language of science—and take active roles in their fields.

Academic Divisions:
The Department of Mathematics consists of six divisions:

  • Analysis and Function Theory

  • Geometry

  • Applied Mathematics

  • Algebra and Number Theory

  • Foundations of Mathematics and Mathematical Logic

  • Topology

The department has 15 Professors, 2 Associate Professors, 3 Assistant Professors, 1 Lecturer, and 3 Research Assistants.

Education:
Instruction is conducted through formal (daytime) education. Undergraduate education lasts four years. In addition to undergraduate programs, master’s and doctoral programs are also offered. These graduate programs are organized under the Pamukkale University Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences.

In addition to courses for its own students, the Department of Mathematics also provides mathematics courses for other departments of the Faculty of Science, as well as basic mathematics courses for the Faculties of Education, Engineering, Architecture and Design, and Technology.

Graduates typically continue their postgraduate studies. They may also become teachers in educational institutions if they meet the requirements set by the Ministry of National Education, or find employment in banks, government institutions (such as the State Institute of Statistics), and the private sector.
