History of the Economics and Econometrics Application and Research Center

Pamukkale University Economics and Econometrics Application and Research Center (EKOMER) was established in 2013 with the aim of contributing econometric analysis to the solution of economic problems, supporting scientific research and guiding data-driven decision-making processes.

The main objective of the Center is to conduct innovative research in the fields of economics and econometrics, to contribute to regional and national development processes and to transform academic knowledge into social benefits. In addition, the Center aims to prepare the ground for theoretical and applied studies on issues such as economic modeling, data analytics and policy analysis.

In this context, the future goals of the Center focus on various areas such as developing academic and sectoral collaborations, organizing training programs and seminars, and producing applicable projects for the public and private sectors. The Center also aims to specialize in disciplines such as econometric modeling, energy economics, financial analysis, sustainable development, biostatistics and data science, and aims to provide innovative solutions to economic problems using big data analytics and machine learning methods.

This vision of the Center is supported by the strong academic staff and research infrastructure of Pamukkale University. In this way, the Center is expected to provide significant support to economic and social development by making scientific contributions at national and international levels.

The Center's activities include the International Summer Seminars on Economics (EYS), which have been organized for over two decades. The program's inception in July 2002 has led to its establishment as a hallmark of Pamukkale University, distinguished by its academic rigor and extensive audience reach.

The International Summer Seminars on Economics is an academic program that aims to foster the scientific development of senior undergraduate and graduate students in disciplines such as economics, finance, econometrics, finance, statistics, biostatistics, and business administration. The program also caters to academic and industrial researchers, drawing contributions from faculty members from various universities in Turkey and around the world. The EYS has been organized for many years, during which time it has not only strengthened the academic foundations of the participants but also established a valuable scientific network at the international level.

Through EYS and other activities, EKOMER continues to promote the production of academic knowledge in the fields of economics and econometrics with a research and practice-based approach. EKOMER strengthens national and international collaborations by mentoring young researchers and faculty members, and strengthens Pamukkale University's influence in the economic and scientific field.
