In accordance with the decision regarding the closure of Technical Education Faculties within higher education institutions and the establishment of new faculties, the Faculty of Technology was founded by the Council of Ministers Decision dated 02.11.2009 and numbered 2009/15546.

The Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering was established in 2011. It commenced its undergraduate education in the 2013–2014 academic year and launched its graduate education programs in the 2018–2019 academic year.
