HIERAPOLIS STREET EAST PORTICO
Along the east side of the Hierapolis Street extends a north-south portico, which was designed and built together with it. It assumed its present look uncovered through excavations with the arrangements made in the fourth century. It was roofed with a timber and tile construction carried by piers of two drums resting on the stylobate on the west and monolithic columns resting on postaments on the east wall. Partially uncovered in 2013, the total area exposed until now measures 4.50x29.85 m. Its floor is partially paved with baked clay bricks and it is partially of compressed earth.
Finds from the portico include some architectural elements, which were later carved out in the middle, three blocks of grinding stone, some agricultural products, two whetting stones, and flint stones used for threshing and all these indicate a work-areafunctioning in part of the portico.
