International Collaboration Meeting with the University of Ioannina

Updated Date: 06 April 2026

A meeting aimed at establishing international academic and artistic collaboration was held between the Department of Fine Arts Education at Pamukkale University and the School of Fine Arts and Art Sciences at the University of Ioannina (Greece). Pamukkale University was represented by Assoc. Prof. Görkem Utku Alparslan and Erasmus Coordinator Assoc. Prof. Ceren Tekin Karagoz.

During the meeting, a productive exchange of ideas took place with Assist. Prof. Konstantinos Papamichalopoulos regarding potential academic and artistic collaborations, with a particular focus on student-centered international projects.

In this context, a “mail art” event planned for October 2026 was proposed. The exhibition is expected to consist of 20 × 20 cm paper-based artworks produced in free technique by students from both institutions. It is planned to organize the exhibition simultaneously at both universities, allowing students to exhibit their works internationally in parallel venues.

This format offers logistical advantages, as artworks can be sent collectively in a single postal delivery, making the process both practical and cost-efficient. The details of the event will be further developed through continued coordination between the two institutions.

During the meeting, information was also shared about the rich historical and cultural heritage of Denizli. Significant archaeological sites such as Pamukkale-Hierapolis, Laodikeia, and Tripolis were highlighted as valuable resources for students and researchers in art, archaeology, and cultural heritage.

The Department of Fine Arts Education at Pamukkale University aims to further strengthen international academic and artistic collaborations in the coming period.
