The event titled “Quality and Accreditation Processes in Higher Education,” held as part of our faculty’s Midday Seminars, took place in the Şehit Teğmen Bekir Can Kerek Conference Hall in Building A, featuring a presentation by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Fatih AKÇAY. The seminar, which drew interest from both academic and administrative staff as well as students, comprehensively addressed the institutionalization of a quality culture in higher education and the functioning of accreditation processes.

The first part of the seminar focused on the concepts of “quality” and institutional accreditation. It was explained that institutional accreditation involves the independent verification of whether a higher education institution meets established quality standards. The seminar also detailed the evaluation stages of the Turkish Higher Education Quality Council (THEQC).
It was noted that THEQC’s evaluation criteria consider the dimensions of Leadership, Governance and Quality, Education and Teaching, Research and Development, and Social Contribution. How quality processes are implemented within the Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) cycle was explained with examples. Referring to the tools that can be utilized through Pamukkale University’s Pusula Information System, examples were provided regarding the tracking of performance indicators, the operation of feedback mechanisms, and implementation of improvements. The event concluded with a question-and-answer session. We would like to thank all academic and administrative staff members and students who participated.
