Fashion design education is based on an understanding that aims to contribute to the welfare of the society by creating a bridge between the arts and industry and by designing the products produced by the industry with artist sensitivity and social awareness. In the design education, different art and design areas are blended in an interdisciplinary environment. Thus, our goal is to raise fashion designers who follow the technology closely and have the potential to be effective and successful in today's business world where the divisive lines between these different fields of art and design are gradually eroding. In the 2011-2012 academic year, the Fashion Design Program started teaching as a normal education and secondary education. Department of Design Fashion Design Program has passed to 3 + 1 education model in 2017. This model; The aim of this course is to provide students with the opportunity to reinforce their knowledge and experience gained during their education period, to organize their hierarchical responsibilities in workplaces, to observe business discipline, to practice and to experience the functions of sector employees closely and to increase their knowledge and experience related to their diploma programs.
Fashion Design Department aims to raise the human profile required by the Turkish Textile and Fashion Industry on an international scale. In this respect, fashion designers who carry out the design process from design idea to market and trend research, creative product analysis, contemporary mold and sewing techniques and presentation styles; it aims to bring fashion ideas to the sector by bringing together these ideas and products with the right brands and brands to the appropriate consumers and markets, developing marketing and management strategies, as well as the finance, distribution, marketing, sales and communication stages of this process.
General admission requirements for Turkish and foreign students are valid to begin the program. The student is accepted according to the regulations determined by the Council of Higher Education.
HORIZONTAL AND VERTICAL TRANSITIONS
The student moves horizontally and vertically in accordance with the relevant regulations of the Council of Higher Education (YÖK).
Students have to pass all the courses in the program, have 120 ECTS-ECTS credits and have a GPA of at least 2.30 out of 4.00. In this program, 30 days internship is required.
5th level academic and professional qualifications are given within the framework of national professional standards related to program knowledge, skills, comprehension, application, analysis, synthesis, creativity and evaluation.
Graduates of the Fashion Design Program of Design Department can serve as fashion designer (stylist), mold design specialist (modelist), production planning, responsible of quality control in the sector or they can design and manufacture individual models by opening individual workplaces. They can also serve as a fashion editor and fashion photographer for fashion magazines, as a fashion marketer and visual display specialist for the retail industry, as a costume designer or as a costume manager for stage and television industry, both private and public.
