Pamukkale University Addresses Family and Social Security Issues within the Scope of the “Family Year” Events.

Within the framework of the “2025 Family Year” events, the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences (FEAS) of Pamukkale University (PAU) organized an important panel and a Kahoot quiz focusing on family and social security issues. The events were held on November 5, 2025, at the FEAS Şehit Piyade Teğmen Bekir Can Kerek Conference Hall. 

The first part featured the “Panel on Family and Social Security Assistance”, moderated by Prof. Dr. Hacer Simay KARALP ORHAN. During the panel: Prof. Dr. Oğuz KARADENİZ discussed the significance of the social security system in protecting family structures and its role in enhancing family welfare. Prof. Dr. Handan KUMAŞ and Dr. Fatma Özge ÖZGEN ÖNEY presented their insights on the economic contributions of unpaid family workers and proposed policy recommendations to ensure their inclusion in social security coverage. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nagihan DURUSOY ÖZTEPE examined the role of fertility trends in Turkey’s changing demographic structure and offered related policy suggestions.

The panel concluded with an interactive Q&A session. Immediately after the panel, the “Family and Social Security Kahoot Competition” was organized by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Fatih AKÇAY and  Dr. Habib KÜÇÜKŞAHİN, allowing participants to test the knowledge they gained during the session. Students both enjoyed the event and had the opportunity to reinforce their learning. In the competition, Ahu Beyda TÖNGÜŞ from the Department of Political Science and Public Administration took first place, Nazar Dilara GÖKSU from the Department of Finance took second place, and Elif AYEBE, also from the Department of Political Science and Public Administration, took third place.
