    INFORMATION FORM FOR FOREIGN STUDENTS

     

    Information about entry, visa and residence permit procedures for international students who are going to receive an education in higher education institutions in Turkey.

    1.

    Procedures before you leave your country (Visa Procedures

    International students are required to get a "Student Visa" before they leave. In order to do so, they must apply to the Turkish Embassy in their country with the following documents:

    • A letter of acceptance from the university which the student has applied to,
    • A valid and a long term passport,
    • A document which indicates that the student will have enough funds for living during their study in Turkey (bank accounts, scholarship certificate, etc.),
    • Required visa fee,
    • Additional documents may be requested by the consulate.

    2.

    Procedures that need to be completed after entering Turkey (Residence Permit)

    International students must enter Turkey via legal border gates. In order to receive a residence permit students must apply with the following documents to the foreigners’ police department, in the city they will study, within 30 days of entering Turkey.

    • A registration / acceptance certificate or an equivalent document from their university in Turkey,
    • A valid and a long term passport,
    • A valid student visa,
    • A document which indicates that the student will have enough funds for living during their study in Turkey (bank accounts, scholarship certificate, etc.),
    • The residence permit fee announced each year,
    • Additional documents may be requested if necessary.

    3.

    Procedures to follow after acquiring a residence permit (Notification Procedure)

    • After acquiring their residence permit, students must get their Foreigners Identification Number from the Identity Number Search Page at https://tckimlik.nvi.gov.tr
    • International students who want to extend or renew their residence permit must apply to the
    • Foreigners’ police department before their residence permit ends or in maximum of 15 days after it ends.
    • The foreigners’ police department must be informed in case of graduation, dropping out of school, cancellation of studentship, etc. within 15 days after changes occur, and in cases of address change, within 48 hours.
    • In case of loss or damage to residence permit students must immediately apply to the foreigners’ police department in order to get a new one.
