Pamukkale University, School of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation was founded in Denizli province in 1992. It offers both undergraduate (first cycle) and postgraduate (second cycle and doctoral) studies. School of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation was started to educational program in 1995 with 21 undergraduate physical therapy students and 7 teaching staff. The School of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation has formal links with some universities in Europe.
The physical therapy and rehabilitation program consists of a four-year curriculum that includes academic, clinical and research experience. The academic portion of curriculum full-time over three years, including clinical practices in second and third years summer semesters.
The fourth year is designed to include both a full-time clinical internship in various rehabilitation setting such as orthopaedic rehabilitation, neurologic rehabilitation, cardio-pulmonary rehabilitation, pediatric rehabilitation, intensive care unit, pre and post surgical rehabilitation, vocational training, and visually disabled children rehabilitation etc. and research activities. Upon successful completion of the curriculum, the student is awarded the Bachelor of Science Degree (BSc) in physical therapy and rehabilitation. There are also Master of Science (2 years) and Doctoral, PhD, programs (4 years) in the area of physical therapy and rehabilitation.
Every year in fall semester 40 undergraduate physical therapy students are welcomed in School of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation at Pamukkale University. The teaching language of the School of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation is Turkish. In 2005-2006 education year, one year English preparatory class has been started. School of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation has recently started to fulfil the requirements of the ERASMUS program and appointed the duty to certain staff officially under the international office of the Pamukkale University.
The enterance requirement to the School of Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation is completion of Turkish upper secondary level education (total 11 years) or completion of corresponding studies aboard and attaining the required score in the national university exam.
